The Northern Periphery Programme covers a large geographical area from the whole of Greenland through the northern parts of Scotland, Finland, Sweden and Norway to Iceland and the Faroe Islands. Northwest Russia is also involved in a project by project basis. The current areas within the STN Project are The Highlands of Scotland, Central Finland and North Karelia in Finland, Vasterbotten in Sweden and East Iceland.
